End of the O.W.L.s readathon

Hello witches or wizards,

It’s the end of the readathon! Last Thursday was the last day of the readathon and I hope y’all read a lot this month. 😉

I finished the Opposite Of Always by Justin A. Reynolds and Children Of Blood And Bone by Tomi Adeyemi! Both were great reads by the way.

The Opposite Of Always was a really funny book. The way Justin A. Reynolds built the story to reveal the moral of it was great. I really enjoyed reading Jack and Kate scenes with their cereal addiction which were often cute and funny. This book is in my opinion underrated and deserves more hype. I enjoyed the time travel a lot which I had never read in a book before. I also really like that Jack doesn’t only need to save Kate during the time-traveling but he also needs to help his friends. At one point I was a bit confused but it became clearer at the end.

With Children Of Blood And Bone it was different. Because in the beginning I wasn’t so sure I was going to love this book, but the more I read it the more I loved it. The whole time, especially at the end, things happened that I did not expect at all. So I was always surprised, which is a great thing. I love the magic system this book has and I love the romances in it too. My favorite characters are definitely Amari and Zélie. On the other hand, I have really mixed feelings about Inan. One thing that bugged me a little was that Amari, although she’s one of my favorite characters, talked a lot about Binta. And I do understand why, but still, every single Amari chapter has the name ‘Binta’ in it.

That’s it! I had a great reading month because I read books that were on my TBR for a while now. I hope you read a lot this month. How was your readathon? Tell me in the comments!

And I’m happy to announce that I passed my O.W.L.s as broom maker!

O.W.L.s readathon update

Hello witches or wizards,

How are y’all doing? It’s finally time for my readathon update, just telling you how my reading has been.

I’ve read two books so far, Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

The two of them were great books but if I had to choose I’d say TSHOEH is my favorite of the two. I loved how you learned what it was like to be a woman and part of the LGBTQ+ community in the 1950’s and what it was like behind the scenes of the film business back then. There was a major plot twist in TSHOEH that I did not see coming, I really loved this book, but at one point during one of the marriages it got a little “boring” I wanna say. It’s just that she wasn’t in the film business as much anymore and so I got less interested but there was still this mystery that kept me reading which did not disappoint me at all. And I loved the romance in this book, like, really loved.

My experience with Everything, Everything was totally different but not in a bad way. I had already seen the movie so I knew what was going to happen but it was still worth the read. I’m more attached to this story now that I’ve read the book. I loved Maddy, Olly and Carla. The titles of the mini chapters were great, they were one of the things that just made the book a little better. Just like The Sun Is Also A Star, this was a quick read and the way Maddy sees the world made me think of how beautiful it is.

I changed Beauty Queens with The Opposite of Always because I’m participating in another reading challenge from HWC Fierce Readers Or Not (if you speak French go and check it out 😉 ) and so I can “kill two birds with one stone” I think it is? I’m about 150 pages in and got the feeling I’m going to love it. This book is hilarious, I promise 😉 😀 I haven’t finished it yet (I’m not even half-way through) but I think I’m going to think it’s underrated (if you can follow 😉 ).

That’s it for this update! Let me know in the comments how your readathon is going and if you couldn’t participate just let me know how your reading is overall!

O.W.L.s readathon

Hello witches or wizards,

So, about a month ago I saw a video from Readbyzoe (a great booktuber) where she was participating at an O.W.L.s April readathon that seemed really fun. I was really bummed I didn’t know about it and so couldn’t participate. But then I thought and was like, maybe I can just do it in July.

Everything will be the same, except that there won’t be any events. And I’ll post some updates about my reading during the whole month. You guys can let me know in the comments how your reading will be.

Here is how the readathon works: during one month you read as many books as you can/want. Each book comes from a Hogwarts class. For example: transfiguration = a book  with sprayed edges or a red cover. Or ancient runes = a retelling. I’m just making one change, arithmancy is normally a work written by multiple authors. But I don’t own any books written by multiple authors or have any on my tbr. So, I changed that to arithmancy you can choose between a work written by more than one authors or a work with multiple points view.

Book Roast (the Booktuber who organized the whole readathon) made a file with all the wizarding careers possibilities there are. Per career possibility you need to pass a number of Hogwarts classes (by reading a book in the “theme”).

Here is the video from Book Roast where she explains everything. You should really check it out, there you can find and print the career file. She explains everything one more time really well and don’t forget, in this readathon there won’t be any events.

This readathon will take place from June 25th to July 25th.

If you haven’t done the readathon before you can do it with me for the first time and if you have, you can do it again and try out a new wizarding career.

If I’m not wrong there will also be the N.E.W.T.s in August, but that’s when I’m in holiday without any WIFI. If I have time, I’ll do it and will then post an update about it at the end of the month.

I hope you will all join me in this readathon!
